Hometown Headlines 7/10/20

A Heat Advisory is in effect for Niagara, Erie, Wyoming, Orleans and Genesee counties as another day of record breaking head is on the way. High temps are expected in the 90s again and the heat index could approach 100 degrees. 

 

Absentee ballot counting continues in the 27th congressional district race. The Buffalo News reports that Democrat Nate McMurray is now just six points behind Republican state senator Chris Jacobs.

 

After being shut down for months to prevent the spread of coronavirus, malls across the state will finally welcome shoppers. Locally, the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, the Walden Galleria and Boulevard Malls begin welcoming customers back today. 

 

Fantasy Island may end up having new life under new ownership.  A local investment group called Empire Adventures says they are working on plans to reopen the famed Grand Island amusement park, and that the plans are nearly complete. 

 

And weather permitting, Medina’s Friday Night Cruise Nights returns to the Erie Canal Basin tonight from 5:30 – 7:30.
