Hometown Headlines 10/09/20

Governor Cuomo says WNY needs to do better in protecting themselves against coronavirus and says that the state is using methods to identify Covid-19 clusters. 

 

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz says 13 people in the county have died as a result of the illness over the last eight days.  Here in Niagara County, 12 new positive cases were reported but no new deaths.

 

The Falls City Council is giving the green light to hire more police officers.  In a unanimous vote yesterday, the Council OK’d the hiring of 8 new officers, thanks to a new federal grant.  

 

A brand new exhibit at the Aquarium of Niagara is now officially opened.  Leaders cut the ribbon yesterday for a new shark and stingray exhibit. 

 

The voter registration deadline for NY State is today. Anyone who wants to vote must send in their form with an October 9th postmark, or drop it off at their board of elections.

 

In sports, the Buffalo Bills’ scheduled game against the Tennessee Titans has been moved to Tuesday night in Nashville.

 

The Yankees are forcing a fifth game in the ALDS after beating the Tampa Bay rays last night 5-1.
