A Lockport man is facing up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty for causing a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist in Sanborn. Nicholas DiCarlo, 28, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree manslaughter. He was driving 75 mph in a 45 mph zone and using a mobile device when he struck and killed 26-year-old Hunter S. Weber in a head-on collision around 9 p.m. on July 17, 2025.Niagara County officials are mourning the loss of long-time legislator Bill Ross. The registered Conservative's political career spanned more than three decades. He held the distinction of being the longest-tenured legislature chair in county. A driver was killed in a hit-and-run on I-90 in Chautauqua County early Wednesday morning, according to New York State Police.Police responded around 6:30 a.m. to I-90 westbound around mile marker 463 in the town of Sheridan. The Bills will play the Canadian national anthem before a home game for the first time in recent memory before next week’s home opener against the Detroit Lions.

Niagara County has officially seen less tourism spending in 2025 than the year before, contrary to the fears of some operators, though, the decline does not seem as bad as expected.Niagara County parents will have even more opportunities to get their kids into pre-kindergarten programs this school year. Public school districts receiving expanded Pre-K seats include, Lewiston-Porter, Lockport, Niagara Falls, Niagara-Wheatfield and North Tonawanda. A 15-year-old was hospitalized after he was shot in the head on Perry Street early Tuesday morning on the 400 block of Perry, near Louisiana Street and Otto Street. Injuries are non life threatening. Buffalo Police have identified the teens killed in a stolen car crash on Jefferson Avenue Thursday morning. Officials say 15-year-old Danielle Hilton and 18-year-old Brendon Gibson both died in the crash. A Buffalo man, 34 year old Jacob Ortiz, got time served and three years of supervised release for attacking a mail carrier on Columbus Avenue last year, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.

The City of Buffalo said Monday it has received 286 flood related ‘311’ reports but emphasizes that only represents reported damage from last weeks flooding event. According to Buffalo Police Benevolent Association President John Davidson, at times over the weekend the rank and file officers were overwhelmed with chaotic scenes throughout the city.The University at Buffalo has introduced a proposal to install flock cameras on its campuses. According to the university’s website, 20 flock cameras would be installed at entrances and exits on the North and South campuses as part of a 60-day pilot program.A 30-year-old man has been accused of intentionally damaging vehicles near the Tops on Maple Road in Amherst on Saturday, police said. A ribbon-cutting was hosted Saturday to commemorate the opening of the Kenan Civic Arena in Lockport, a multi-million-dollar facility that leaders say is the largest capital project in the Kenan Center's nearly 60-year history. The 70,000 square-foot space, which was largely funded by private donors, sees the addition of a fitness center, turf field, sport courts, and classrooms to the Kenan Center campus.Law enforcement received a call around 2:05am on September 4th after reports of a large fight outside the Wagon Wheel bar on Niagara Falls Blvd. in Niagara Falls.The 911 caller, a third-party, told police that he was driving along Niagara Falls Blvd. and observed a large fight outside of the Wagon Wheel. Several individuals were brawling in the roadway. Punches were flying and the men were wrestling. It is unknown what precipitated the altercation.Law enforcement received a call around 7:53pm on September 3rd after reports of a violent home invasion on the 1200 block of 96th Street in Niagara Falls.The 911 caller told police that a male broke into her residence and was “beating on her.” The male was known to her but would not leave the apartment. At the time of the call, he was still on location.

The woman accusing West Seneca Police Chief Brian Cosgrove of sexually assaulting her last year at an Atlanta hotel told police she blacked out and initially had no memory of what happened until she returned home. The 331,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will feature two turf fields, six basketball courts, 12 volleyball courts, and 24 pickleball courts.The city of Buffalo is looking to acquire two historic buildings in the city’s Cobblestone District on North Park Avenue through the process of eminent domain, according to court documents.The Niagara County Sewer District has voted in favor of a six-month moratorium on any new development that exceeds 2,500 gallons a day of sewage output. He asked the woman – described as white, thin and 5’ tall – if she was okay, to which she looked at him and punched him on the side of the face.Law enforcement received a call around 9:40pm on August 24th after reports of a gang assault in the area of Niagara Street and 20th Street in Niagara Falls.The 911 caller, a third-party, told dispatch that multiple men dragged a male into a brown house and said they were going to beat him.Police responded to the scene. It is unknown whether the suspects were located and arrested.Hunters in Niagara County will be able to continue using rifles to hunt big game until at least October 2028. Following Gov. Kathy Hochul's review, the allowance, which was passed earlier this year by the state legislature, was signed on Friday.The allowance was set to expire on October 1 of this year, but will be extended until October 1, 2028, under the newly signed act.The 2026 Olcott Beach Car Show will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Krull Park, located on the shore of Lake Ontario in Olcott. Celebrating its 36th year, it is the largest one-day car show in Western New York.The show features rare and original muscle cars, exotics, customs, tuners, and race cars. In past years, it has featured up to 1,000 registered vehicles.
