State police are investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian that happened Friday night in the town of Lockport. Officials say Lockport resident Leroy Smith, 81, was hit by a vehicle driven by Sean Michael Patrick Leslie, 22, of Grand Island. Smith was later pronounced dead.A Niagara Falls woman has died, and a city man is clinging to life, as a result of a two-car crash at the intersection of Military Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard Monday morning.The man accused of killing a woman and two children Monday has been arraigned in court. Saleh Q. Mohamed was arraigned Monday night in Cheektowaga Town Court. He's also been questioned about a deadly shooting Monday on Grant Street in Buffalo. Police are investigating a possible triple homicide on Ellen Drive in Cheektowaga after a mother and two children were found dead, officials said. A man who is believed to be the husband of the adult female victim and the father of the two juvenile victims is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned on charges of first-degree murder.A man was shot and killed on the 1000 block of Grant Street on Monday afternoon, Buffalo Police said. Officers responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m. Officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. The next chapter in the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo’s bankruptcy proceedings is unfolding — and the end could soon be in sight. The so-called "Two-Project Solution" for the City of Niagara Falls could take a significant step forward on Wednesday. Mayor Robert Restaino has asked members of the city council to approve a settlement with the firm Niagara Falls Redevelopment and one of its affiliated companies, Blue Apple Properties, LLC. Travelers can expect to see some new upgrades at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport while heading to their next destination. Rep. Tim Kennedy announced $8.7 million in federal funding will improve infrastructure at the airport and enhance the boarding experience for passengers. The intersection at Military Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard was expected to be closed for a few hours on Monday morning following a traffic crash. A Lackawanna man, 28 year old Joshua Wright, was sentenced Thursday to 4 to 12 years in prison after driving the wrong way on the Skyway and causing a fatal crash in June 2025. A Jamestown man was sentenced to 15 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision after he admitted to manslaughter, the Chautauqua Supreme and County Courts office said Thursday. In February, 28-year-old Matthew Nuttall pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter for causing the death of 16-month-old Isaac Benton in April 2024.A Niagara County Court jury has convicted a Clarence man in the first of two cases involving his attempts to have sex with a North Tonawanda teen. Erie County lawmakers were split along party lines when it comes to whether or not they should be allowed inside the county’s luxury hospitality suite at the new Highmark Stadium.A judge has permanently put a stop to the transfer of waste, such as contaminated soil and concrete from the Niagara Falls Storage Site in Lewiston.

Buffalo will receive an additional $25 million in state funds for the 2026-27 budget, Mayor Sean Ryan announced Thursday, in addition to $15 million in previously announced funds.A top Canadian official said this week that talks are underway with a foreign investment group interested in spending big bucks to help grow the economy on both sides of the border in Niagara Falls.An Elma man, 55 year old Matthew Steele, was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison after being convicted of production and possession of child pornography involving a minor. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz’s veto of a youth hunting bill was overridden by the county legislature on Thursday in an 8-3 vote. The bill allows 12- and 13-year-olds to hunt deer with guns with an experienced adult mentor. It first passed in the legislature with a 7-3 vote on April 30.The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that there will be roving lane closures on Interstate 190 between the north Grand Island Bridge in Erie County and Upper Mountain Road in Niagara County from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday to facilitate bridge washing and sealing.

The City of Niagara Falls announced Wednesday that they have issued approximately 3,000 letters to city property owners who are delinquent in paying their taxes. The city estimates that the delinquent taxes total in the millions of dollars. A Tonawanda man, 29 year old Brian Borth, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to manslaughter after striking and killing a man with his vehicle in May 2024, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said. Authorities from the City of Tonawanda are investigating the recent vandalism that occurred in the city’s Eastern Park on Wednesday. The city is currently working to remove the damage done and restore the park.A few weeks after telling members of the Niagara County Legislature that his return to Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corp. had been clouded by “pure politics,” Henry Wojtasek announced he’s ending his bid to join the board. The first-ever modern Great Lakes cruise ship is set to arrive in Buffalo soon packed with dozens of passengers, some of whom will be visiting the Queen City for the very first time. American Cruise Lines’ 130-passenger American Patriot, will arrive in Buffalo around 9 p.m. Thursday evening.

County Executive Mark Poloncarz signed the Biometric Transparency and Privacy Act into law Tuesday afternoon.The City of Buffalo is warning drivers of lane changes on Niagara St during a road work project happening this week. The city says Niagara Street will be paved between Porter Ave and Hampshire St. The project begins Wednesday and continues through Friday, May 29.A body that was found in Chautauqua Lake Saturday has been confirmed to be a man who was reported missing in March. The Lakewood-Busti Police Department says the body has been identified as Daniel 'Scott' Emmerson, 64, who went missing in early March. 43North will host its final startup competition this fall as the startup program comes to an end next year, program leaders announced Wednesday.The Taste of Buffalo on Wednesday announced the participants for this year’s festival, which will be held in downtown Buffalo on July 11 and July 12. A Buffalo Police officer was shot on Sherman Street Tuesday afternoon and has been taken to the Erie County Medical Center, a Buffalo Police spokesperson said. BPA President John Davidson said that the officer is stable.The Buffalo city budget passed in City Hall Tuesday afternoon, lowering the mayor’s proposed property tax levy increase to 19%.Lockport firefighter Samuel Mozzillo was among 25 graduates of the state’s Recruit Firefighter Training program at the Office of Fire Prevention. The farmer’s market at the Delavan Grider Community Center returns this week. Organizers said the market will operate regardless of the weather conditions. The market opens May 28 at 4 p.m.As construction continues at Ralph Wilson Park, community leaders are looking ahead to a summer filled with music, culture, and waterfront entertainment. The park’s vice chair of the conservancy, Marnetta Malcom, announced the launch of the “Levitt Vibe Buffalo Music Series,” a free concert lineup that will bring a variety of performances to the city’s waterfront this summer.
