The City of Niagara Falls has been under a state of emergency for the past three-and-half weeks, Mayor Robert Restaino declared the state of emergency on July 20, In a statement, Restaino blamed the City Council for failing to approve funding for various public safety measures. The mayor said he declared the state of emergency due to “impending and urgent threats or dangers to public health and public safety.”The radiological survey of Niagara and Erie counties appears to have now extended into Niagara Falls, with soil sampling taking place on Jerauld Avenue.

After deputies boxed the vehicle in, the 18-year-old operator attempted to evade arrest by maneuvering the vehicle over a curb. However, this caused one of the tires to detach from the vehicle. The disabled stolen vehicle continued on for a short distance before crashing into a parked vehicle.
