The Niagara Falls City Council has halted two critical components of Mayor Robert Restaino’s proposed $200 million Centennial Park project, freezing key land-acquisition funding and corporate-structuring efforts.At a tense Wednesday, July 8th meeting, lawmakers voted 4-1 to postpone a $4.029 million expenditure aimed at buying the necessary South End acreage from Niagara Falls Redevelopment.Residents in one Town of Niagara neighborhood want answers after the state informed them there may be high levels of radiation in their neighborhood.Carolyn Johnson says residents started receiving letters from the EPA and DEC regarding high levels of activity found on their residential properties according to their latest aerial roadway, environmental radioactive studies.Johnson says it is rumored that there were 100 homes affected back in 2016 and only 4 of them were remedied and the other 96 never even notified. Buffalo Police Commissioner Erika Shields says the City of Buffalo is going after the promoter of a street party that led to violence, leaving 11 people shot.CrimeStoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspected street party promoter, 24-year-old Daevon Alexander.
