New York State Police are investigating a deadly incident after a driver died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while traveling on Interstate 90 in Erie County. Investigators say a Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound when the driver, identified as 29-year-old Daniel J. Nostrum of Douglasville, Georgia, used a 9-millimeter handgun and suffered a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.An investigation is underway after an inmate died on Thursday, July 16th inside the Niagara County Correctional Facility, prompting a review by the New York Attorney General’s Office as required under New York law. Authorities have not released the identity of the inmate or any information about the circumstances surrounding the death.A body found in the canal in the Town of Tonawanda is tied to a search that started in the canal in North Tonawanda.Town of Tonawanda Police launched an investigation after officers found a body in the Erie Canal near Ellicott Creek Park on the morning of July 16.North Tonawanda Police say they took a missing person report on July 14 for Jeffrey Turner, 36, of North Tonawanda.
